I know you’re singing “Wishin’ & Hopin'” in your head right now. That’s okay, you’re in good company, I’m doing the same. I’m imbibing in a glass (or three) of wine tonight. It’s been a loooong time since I’ve gotten my tipsy on, and let me tell ya- it’s feeling rather pleasurable:) I’m rewarding myself for many things today. Cleaning the kitchen. Doing some laundry. Straightening up the living room. Surviving my kids bickering all day. You know–all those things we moms do every.stinkin.day and never reward ourselves for? Well, enough of that, I say! We enjoyed a pleasurable movie evening (UP with the kids, and The Hangover with the hubs), and now….it’s Mommy W(h)ine Time.
On NYE, I spent most of my few hours at work with my earphones on, jamming out to what I’ve decided is my favorite song of the decade. I can just hear my friends gasping in horror! How in the world is it possible to choose ONE song for an entire ten year time period? Well, folks, not only have I done it, but I’ve also declared it my motto for 2010, and the concept of my next tattoo. Gravity by John Mayer. Best song of the last decade.
You may have already noticed it on my blog header—but here it is again, my favorite line from Gravity, “…just keep me where the light is…”. Here’s a clip of an amazing live performance of Gravity in case you would like to check it out:
Simple really. That’s all I want. I’ve battled depression and various other addictions my entire life, and all I want is to stay where the light is. The light where my family is. The light where my friends are. And if I’m there, I can hopefully let my little light shine too.
