Today we celebrated both big J and little J’s birthdays. Due to the closeness of their birthdays, we’ve always had a joint birthday part. Not only for ease of convenience for this mom, who plans & orchestrates the event every year, but also the odds of family and friends being able to join for the celebration are much higher if they only have one party to attend, rather than two.
This year we decided to rock it Incredible Pizza style. For those who may not be familiar with IP, picture a much cooler, much larger Chuck E. Cheese, with much better food. Free goodie bags for the birthday kids and a spin on the birthday wheel, where they won $5 play cards for the games.
Lots of friends, family, food and gifts followed. The day before the party, Oklahoma was struck with yet another round of snow, which caused my parents, sister and niece to not be able to make the trek to attend. Surprisingly though, just about everyone else made it, and as you can see, the kids were thrilled to see so many loved ones.
My amazingly creative sister-in-law, Kristy, made birthday crowns for the J’s. Aren’t they adorable?
They received entirely TOO many wonderful gifts, which of course, are now spread all over my house. Can we say spoiled rotten?? 🙂 Jaxen has been going through a phase where he’s obsessed with the wrestler John Cena (which is really odd since we never even watch wrestling, lol). During a quick trip to the Dollar Store recently, I stumbled across a John Cena hat, which turned out to be J-Bo’s favorite gift from Mom & Dad.
Go-Kart racing, miniature bowling, and dancing were next. Check out these moves!
Four hours later, we schlepped our tired selves out into the wintery cold, content from delicious food, great conversation with loved ones, and the promise of many hours of fun with new toys. It was an incredible birthday, for my two incredible babies, who aren’t such babies anymore.
I love you, my little/big J’s!
And I love your daddy, too, even if he is a dork:)
